🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was the heart that set a multi-panel shelf painting within a household?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a folk painting that unfolds bookshelves across a many-paneled screen. Books and objects are arranged in orderly fashion compartment by compartment, so the whole scene runs in a single breath. I read, in these repeating stacks of books, an unwavering wish. That it was drawn not on one panel but stretched across many means the longing was that great. The heart toward learning was raised all around the household and faced each day. What one surrounds oneself with makes the air of that house. What is kept near, in the end, shapes the grain of a person.
