Be Doers, Not Only Hearers
Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Do I nod at good words, then go on living exactly as before?
📝Reflection
James calls mere hearing "deceiving yourselves." Hearing a good word gives the illusion we already live by it. I too have read countless wise sayings and been moved—but being moved is not doing. The Greek poietes means both poet and "maker." Be not one who knows but one who makes. Wisdom becomes ours not the moment it piles up in the head, but the moment it moves into hand and foot.
🌱Apply It Today
Take one good word that stayed with you today and turn it into one small action before evening.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
