DAY 261

While He Was Still Far Off, His Father Ran to Him

Luke 15:20
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
ἔτι δὲ αὐτοῦ μακρὰν ἀπέχοντος εἶδεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη
📜 THE VERSE

While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with deep compassion, and ran to embrace him.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

While waiting for someone to return, am I waiting at the door, or have I already locked it?

📝Reflection

That the father recognized him "while still far off" means he had been watching that road every day. While the son was rehearsing his apology, the father had already forgotten dignity and run out to meet him. What makes this scene remarkable is its lack of conditions. Without interrogating what the son did wrong, the father accepts him fully on the single fact that he returned. Human love usually demands verification; this love says that returning itself is enough.
