Love Your Enemies
Love your enemies, and hold goodwill toward those who trouble you.
Even toward someone I have every reason to hate, do I leave room for goodwill?
📝Reflection
Loving those who love us is something anyone does — it is instinct, not a special virtue. What makes this teaching demanding is that it stretches love's reach even to those we hate. To love an enemy does not mean condoning their actions. It means, more precisely, guarding your own heart so it is not ruled by hatred. Hatred, in the end, burns the one who hates before it burns anyone else.
🌱Apply It Today
Think of one person you resent today, and instead of cursing them, wish them well just once.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
