DAY 73

Even a Fool Is Thought Wise When Silent

Proverbs 17:28
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
גַּם אֱוִיל מַחֲרִישׁ חָכָם יֵחָשֵׁב
📜 THE VERSE

Even a fool is thought wise when he keeps silent, and discerning when he holds his tongue.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Thinking silence a loss, have I diminished myself with words that need not have been said?

📝Reflection

Unable to hold back words that could go either way, I have often made myself shallow. This verse jabs coolly, almost like a joke: even a fool seems wise when he shuts his mouth. Words reveal me, but silence protects me. The ease of not needing to prove everything is what finally makes a person seem deep.
