DAY 83

The Heart Is Deep Water

Proverbs 20:5
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
מַיִם עֲמֻקִּים עֵצָה בְלֶב־אִישׁ וְאִישׁ תְּבוּנָה יִדְלֶנָּה
📜 THE VERSE

The purposes of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Judging by the surface, have I never even tried to draw up the deep water within a person?

📝Reflection

People are far deeper than what shows on the surface. Behind a blunt face is a long-swallowed story; behind a short word, a heart left unsaid. This verse calls the one who draws up that deep water discerning. Judging is easy, understanding is hard. Before cutting someone down by their surface, draw up just one bucket to see what water pools within — that is the start of knowing a person.
