DAY 106

Do Not Answer a Fool by His Folly

Proverbs 26:4
기원전 10~6세기 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
אַל־תַּעַן כְּסִיל כְּאִוַּלְתּוֹ פֶּן־תִּשְׁוֶה־לּוֹ גַם־אָתָּה
📜 THE VERSE

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be like him.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Meeting someone's pettiness with my own, am I dragging myself down to their level?

📝Reflection

Meeting an unreasonable person with equal unreason, you soon find you have become just like them. This verse warns of that trap. The moment I react to another's folly in kind, I am pulled onto their board. Not every provocation needs a response. To some words, no reply is the most dignified answer. Not descending to the other's level — that is the silence that guards me.

🌱Apply It Today

When a petty provocation comes today, do not fire back in kind — let it pass just once.
