📜 THE VERSE

It grows grass for the cattle, and plants for people to tend, bringing food out of the earth.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Have I ever reckoned how many hands my daily meal has passed through?

📝Reflection

Psalm 104 is one of the great hymns to nature within scripture. The poet gazes in wonder at the quiet cycle: grass springs from the soil, the grass feeds the beasts, the plants feed the people. We imagine food comes from the store. But behind that one bowl are soil, rain, sunlight, and countless hands. I long treated eating as mere filling. Yet the moment I reckoned the long chain behind one meal, the table became a place of thanks. Eyes that see the ordinary as not ordinary — that is the beginning of wonder.
