DAY 228

Like Watchmen for the Morning

Psalm 130:6
기원전 10~5세기
ORIGINAL
נַפְשִׁי לַאדֹנָי מִשֹּׁמְרִים לַבֹּקֶר
📜 THE VERSE

My soul waits, more than watchmen wait for the morning — more than watchmen for the morning.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

In the dark, do I wait believing morning will surely come?

📝Reflection

No one waits for morning as intensely as a watchman who has stayed up all night. Yet in that waiting there is not only impatience but certainty — the certainty that morning will surely come. The poet sings of that confident waiting. I was often gripped by the fear that a hard night would last forever, as if this darkness would never end. But no night, however long, has ever defeated the morning. Just as a watchman does not doubt the dawn, when I remember that the present dark will surely lift, waiting becomes not despair but endurance. Only one who believes in the morning can cross the night.
