DAY 197

What You Only Know by Tasting

Psalm 34:8
기원전 10~5세기
ORIGINAL
טַעֲמוּ וּרְאוּ כִּי־טוֹב יְהוָה
📜 THE VERSE

Taste and see how good it is; blessed is the one who takes shelter within it.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I know the good things of life only in my head, passing them by without ever tasting?

📝Reflection

The poet says not "consider" but "taste." Some things you cannot know however much they are explained; you know them only by placing them on your tongue. So it is with love, with peace, with the warmth of this morning's coffee. I often lived life only in my head. Even with something good before me, I knew only the concept "good," and moved on to the next task without tasting it. To taste is to be fully here, now. The distance between knowing and tasting was exactly the distance between living and merely imitating a life.

🌱Apply It Today

For one meal today, taste at least the first three bites fully, with no screen. Feel the difference between knowing and tasting.
