DAY 145

A Threefold Cord Is Not Quickly Broken

Ecclesiastes 4:12
기원전 3세기경 편집 (히브리 지혜문학)
ORIGINAL
וְהַחוּט הַמְשֻׁלָּשׁ לֹא בִמְהֵרָה יִנָּתֵק
📜 THE VERSE

One may be overpowered, but two can withstand; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

How many strands is the cord that holds me — and am I a strand for anyone else?

📝Reflection

A single thread snaps at a fingertip, but braided threefold it does not break easily. The Preacher nails the power of relationship with this simple image. A weight that crushed us alone is borne in a cord of intertwined strands. Tellingly, he does not stop at "two" but goes to "three" — the more relationships are woven, the tougher they become. If you wish to be unshaken, better to weave yourself more deeply with good people than to strain to grow harder alone. A braided cord holds like a rock unshaken by the wind.
