Be Kind and Forgiving to One Another
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other.
Do I forgive others as much as I want to be forgiven?
📝Reflection
The Greek eusplanchnos means "with warmed inward parts," pointing to a deep compassion felt in the gut, not the head. Paul draws kindness and forgiveness as such bodily feeling. Forgiveness, before it is a rational decision, begins when the heart aches at another's circumstance. I saw others' faults as large while being lenient with my own. But recalling how often I myself have been forgiven, the reasons I cannot forgive others shrink. Forgiveness seems a gift for the other, but it is really setting down, first, the heavy load of resentment I carry.
🌱Apply It Today
Bring to mind one person who weighs on you, and set down one inner burden as a way of forgiving them.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
