DAY 201

We Bustle About Like a Shadow

Psalm 39:6
기원전 10~5세기
ORIGINAL
אַךְ־בְּצֶלֶם יִתְהַלֶּךְ־אִישׁ
📜 THE VERSE

A person goes about like a mere shadow, bustling in vain, heaping up, and not knowing who will gather it.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

For whom, for what, am I heaping things up so busily?

📝Reflection

The poet coolly names what busyness really is. We come and go like shadows, heaping something up, yet not knowing who will gather it. This insight is not calling wealth worthless. It only warns against a bustle that has forgotten its purpose. I was long absorbed in heaping and had no moment to ask why I heaped. Busyness is often the most convincing mask for emptiness. Only one who can pause the hands and ask "why this?" steps out of the shadow and walks as something real.
